The Alliance for Michigan's Future is an industry group which seeks to improve the standard of living for Michigan residents by improved economic and cultural opportunities. They are known for hosting small business seminars and funding community arts programs. The membership is largely new business that has been attracted to Michigan by the Governor's and the Michigan Economic Development Commission's incentives.

That's what the public sees.  The Board of Directors, however, is a secretive group that has a slightly different goal.  Their goal is not for the betterment of the state as a whole, but of themselves personally, and sod the rest.  Seeing drug users, unwed mothers, the homeless and the unemployed as threats to their materialistic utopia, they have no problem getting rid of them.  Megalomania is also not in short supply, and they are not above getting rid of people who stand in the way of their goals.
